Garage or Existing Structure Conversion ADUs are usually the cheapest option for construction, but they also provide the least privacy.
An Attached ADU is an addition, attached to the primary dwelling that must include a separate entrance, at least one bedroom and at least one bathroom. Attached ADUs must be isolated from the main residence. Attached ADUs can not be over 50% of the total floor area of the primary dwelling. Attached ADUs are perfect for housing elderly relatives, since they allow easy access from both dwellings. You can also use it as a Home Office or Home Gym.
